30 years of software systems for cash-in-transit companies - ALVARA celebrates its anniversary

ALVARA is one of the leading providers of software solutions for the entire cash cycle between cash-in-transit companies, retailers and financial institutions. This year, the “Cash-in-Transit” competence area is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since 1995, practical, secure and innovative applications of the current ALVARA brand have ensured that CIT companies can handle their processes efficiently, securely and transparently.
For three decades now, the specialized solutions have proven themselves in areas such as cash and cash-in-transit logistics, cash processing, ATM services, material and hard cash supply, key-, pool- and order management. Their success factor: they offer consistent efficiency and maximum security - two aspects that are crucial for cash-in-transit companies in everyday cash center operations as well as in cash logistics. Whether route planning, shipment tracking or documented, traceable transfers of liability, the cash center software currently supports a large number of well-known cash-in-transit companies in digitizing and automating central processes along the value chain - from the recording of secure containers to the seamless tracking of these containers.
ALVARA focuses on the customer. This means that the team develops and enhances features in line with the requirements of CIT in particular. For example, the ERP flagship Pecunia has been redesigned as a cloud application for three years in order to meet the industry's future technological and regulatory requirements for modern software architecture. It is also possible to connect a large number of counting machines, video systems and scanners. The independence from hardware manufacturers ensures that Pecunia users can use hardware from a wide range of brands in banknote and coin processing - according to their needs.
An important milestone was the gradual introduction of online scanners in the CIT sector from 2016, which was made possible by the specially developed logistics app. In addition to traditional order processing, this app offers functions such as money delivery legitimization, e-receipt or one-time code provision in order to process every stop digitally and efficiently. ALVARA is also setting standards in the area of large-scale counting technology: the integration of high-speed counting with separation cards, for example, ensures even greater efficiency in cash centers with large voting units from ATMs.
Fakturio was used to automate invoicing in the cash center. Based on the services documented in Pecunia, invoices are automatically generated in the correct period and sent to the WTU's end customers - since 2023 also optionally in the e-invoice formats X-Rechnung and ZUGFeRD.
"This year's anniversary is much more than just a look back for us. It is a sign of continuity, innovative strength and future orientation - which we can set thanks to our experienced team," emphasizes Robert Wolf, Managing Director of ALVARA. Many customers have been working successfully with the software for decades - a sign of trust and lasting customer satisfaction thanks to customized solutions. However, the software provider is not resting on its laurels. ALVARA is currently working intensively on the use of artificial intelligence. The focus is on route planning and creating the daily schedule for all vehicles and orders with AI in order to speed up manual processes in the cash center and, at best, to fully automate them in the final expansion stage.
"Our 30th anniversary is being marked under the motto: experience meets further development. After all, the digitalization of value logistics is only just beginning. A process that we, in our role as an innovative service provider, are driving forward ever faster together with our customers," says Robert Wolf.
