Inspiring courage, creating opportunities. We can achieve more together!

For many years, we at ALVARA have been involved in social and sporting projects in the Leipzig region. We were also immediately impressed by the Bürgerstiftung Leipzig's educational programme ‘Die Wunderfinder’ (The Wonder Finders).

Achieve more together

The Bürgerstiftung Leipzig has been promoting social cohesion for over 20 years through a wide variety of projects such as ‘ Radeln ohne Alter’ (Cycling Without Age), ‘ Bürgersingen’ (Community Singing) and ‘ Zu Tisch!’ (To the Table!). Promoting educational opportunities for children and young people is particularly important.

The largest educational programme is called ‘ Die Wunderfinder’. The name alone suggests that it is about much more than teaching knowledge. It brings together children from a wide range of social backgrounds with caring adults – mentors – who encourage them, open up new perspectives and help them discover their own strengths. The success of this concept has been proven over the last ten years. The project will celebrate its anniversary in 2025.

Children discover their talents

Elementary school children who participate in Wunderfinder are guided by volunteer mentors for one year. One adult takes time for two Wunderfinder children. Together, they discover the city, visit cultural institutions, try new things, and discuss topics that are often forgotten in everyday life. In this way, they share knowledge and lay the foundation for education. But they also spark curiosity, boost self-confidence and open doors that might otherwise remain closed.

The mentors start out as companions and quickly become role models. They motivate, encourage and support talents. This paves the way for a self-determined future.

 A small contribution

As a company, we know how important it is to identify opportunities, promote potential and create a safe environment in which development is possible. Starting early and showing children what they are capable of during a very crucial phase, teasing out their own interests, discovering their abilities and skills, allowing them to live out their talents and always being open to new ideas is an approach that immediately convinced us.

That is why we are delighted to be able to help in a small way by donating to an organisation in our home town and are eagerly following the work of Wunderfinder.
