Automated process in cash logistics

The Stadtsparkasse Augsburg optimizes its coin management sustainably and future-oriented

The rising costs in cash handling and new frameworks for coin handling have long since led to a rethinking in savings banks and banks. Many major banks, for example, no longer handle coins and thus shift the handling of cash to regional institutions. For the Stadtsparkasse Augsburg, different issues were on the agenda as part of a new strategic orientation in cash management. Solutions had to be found for highly frequent coin depositors and complex counter processes. The institution has consequently made important decisions that are already showing impact. Robert Leitenmaier and Steffen Wittwer outline a successful project in their joint technical article and explain in this IT banker context what regional institutions in particular should pay attention to in cash management to remain competitive in the long term.
