The thing about resolutions is always tricky. Hardly have the first days of the new year passed, and they've usually been thrown overboard again. Considering the hard-to-reach constants like healthier eating and regular exercise, we can all too well understand this. Based on experience, we are a bit more steadfast with our professional resolutions and strive for the set goals throughout the year. Our ALVARA team has set itself some product innovations, project completions, and exciting trade show visits. Let's see what else 2024 brings us.
ICC and AI – a big topic for 2024
Artificial intelligence is hardly imaginable without being on agendas. At ALVARA, we are also planning new features with AI support for our ICC, in short. The AI forecast for change orders is on our list of resolutions. The automatic determination of optimal order quantities and, if necessary, triggering orders via ICC at the cash-in-transit company will bring multiple benefits to users in the new year, including efficiency and sustainability. Additionally, the AI vault intake is expected to optimize the coin stock in retail through photos as a basis for all downstream processes for accounting, auditing, insurance, and the planning of cash withdrawal and supply via the ICC.
But it also works without AI, as the third ICC innovation shows. Our KPI dashboard is undergoing a revision. This will further enhance the graphical overview of relevant key figures, providing responsible employees in banks and retail with a quick overview of the operational status of ongoing cash processes.
Pecunia and webPecunia: our look into the crystal ball
Since last year, our Pecunia Cash Center Software has had a counterpart in the cloud. With webPecunia, we have been providing our proven software for the cash center as a cloud service since the summer. Thanks to the universal machine driver, which works with raw data from counting machines, and Progressive Web App technology, machine connectivity and counting are enabled in the browser. We also aim for a performance increase through a central database for all cash centers of a service provider. Furthermore, in 2024, we will tackle the look-and-feel – stay tuned!
Smart Forecasting – 2024 brings even more clarity
ATMs, smart safes, or cash recyclers share one aspect: they need to be emptied and/or filled, usually at irregular intervals. A challenge for cash-in-transit companies is to evaluate data on this, make predictions, align or make logistics more flexible, and fulfill associated services according to contractual obligations. For this year, we plan to address this issue together with ADS France. With Smart Forecasting, all machines can be centrally evaluated, and stops can be optimized based on this data. In real time, the software collects information, for example, on upper and lower limits for recyclers or minimum amounts for ATMs, and evaluates it. With the planned visualization, we are also considering user-friendliness for users.
ALVARA at trade shows
The first specialist conference awaits us at the end of January. We are not just participants. For several years, we have been able to invite together with GS1 Germany and the EHI Retail Institute as cooperation partners. This time, the event will take place from January 23 to 24, 2024, in Cologne. The doors are open for professionals and executives from the banking sector, retail, cash transportation, or industry. A comprehensive range of topics on cash awaits you in 2024 as well. Particularly interesting for us: new ideas to make cash logistics more efficient, transparent, and safer.
In addition, we are firmly planning our visit to the following trade shows:
- – 2024 in Düsseldorf from February 27 to 29, 2024
- – in Prague from June 2 to 4, 2024
- – in Hamburg from March 8 to 12, 2024.
Preparations are already in full swing for our ALVARA Cash Dialog, where we warmly invite the retail industry for a joint exchange. This year, we will meet with customers and prospects on April 25, 2024, in Karlsruhe - at the dm-dialogicum (Am dm-Platz 1). As soon as the program is finalized, we will gladly inform you!

To achieve our goals, we are also on the lookout for new team members this year. For our service and support teams, we particularly want new colleagues who would like to face professional challenges in Leipzig or Hamburg. All the details of our open positions are available.
But 2024 should not only consist of work. Having fun together and doing something outside of work is high on the agenda again. We start right away in winter. The plan: We put on our gloves, grab our wool hats, and head out for an icy match – in ice stock sport. Once the temperatures announce summer again, we'll swap work life as last year for our ALVARA Rafting Cup. Two dates we are already marking in our calendars with great anticipation.
