A more modern, intuitively usable platform that focuses on accessible interfaces and says goodbye to media discontinuities – the transition to NExt, the redesign of ExtraNet, the previous e-business platform, is intended to offer the Deutsche Bundesbank these advantages in the future. The article shows what changes with this and how customers benefit from optimized business processes via NExt.
What is behind NExt?
Until now, the Deutsche Bundesbank has used its own e-business platform ExtraNet for certain business processes. The redesign NExt is now intended to complement the known functions and fundamentally expand the range of possibilities. The goal: NExt should provide a modern and intuitively operable portal in the future.
For this purpose, the central bank uses a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to minimize risk factors and to further develop the product successively based on the feedback received. As long as the transition of the individual departments to the new portal is ongoing, the Deutsche Bundesbank relies on a parallel operation of both systems.
Associated with this, the German Central Bank offers regular testings in which it presents and explains new features. We at ALVARA | Digital Solutions are also part of the test subjects and are already testing the new portal intensively.
Advantages of NExt
In addition to easier usability and shortened processes, NExt should above all be more user-friendly and customizable. For this purpose, information and functionalities are automatically adjusted to the users to match their permissions. The portal can also be customized to tailor the portal experience more specifically to the consumer.
Specifically, NExt offers a self-service and a user manager for user management, convenient and accessible interfaces, modern and secure authentication methods, a dialog function for communication directly in the portal, and standardized interfaces (APIs) for automatic exchange. In addition, there are reporting calendars, to-do lists, email notifications, information, and regulations. Both the transition and the expansion of the program are recorded in a . The Deutsche Bundesbank allows itself until the end of 2026 for the complete transition.
Uniform basic functions for different departments
The basic functions encompass the services required by a large number of users and thus different departments, while at the same time ensuring standardization. Thus, external customers – regardless of the different work areas – always have access to identical and uniform functionalities.
Thus, registration processes can be created by users themselves. Additionally, management is handled by a user manager from the company. This user manager is also authorized for the work areas which the company releases. These areas allow access to one or more specialist topics, to which users are assigned. This illustrates these steps.
The transition to NExt
Since those responsible are completely redesigning the registration process, users must re-register with NExt. A migration from ExtraNet to NExt is not possible. This applies to all departments. However, registering for at least one specialist topic is sufficient. The extension to new specialist topics can then be easily expanded. Furthermore, the NExt service team informs the respective users in a timely manner about the transition. This allows a change to be carried out with sufficient lead time and preparation.
Important: Our ICC customers do not need to worry about registration. As with ExtraNet, ALVARA will provide you with NExt access. No effort is required.
Conclusion
From ExtraNet to NExt: users can look forward to a modern, intuitive, and customizable platform. It will not only integrate all previous functions but also offer new, expanded possibilities in the future. A redesign that is worthwhile.
