ICC app celebrates its birthday - and with it, efficient mobile cash management

It seems like only yesterday: Our Interactive Cash Control (ICC) platform had already proven itself for many years as a digital cash process control system for chain stores. But there was a sense of movement. Retailers increasingly wanted a paperless, flexible and mobile back office. Our decision to expand the existing web application to include an app was therefore quickly made. Today we are celebrating 5 years of the ICC app.
From the web application to the app
ICC has always been our answer to fast, efficient and transparent cash processes. Initially, the comprehensive platform was primarily used by chain stores to automate cash dispensing and change orders via a web application, thus saving time and resources. A good five years ago, customers reported new requests: The processes surrounding cash logistics in the retail back office needed to be paperless and completely PC-free.
From ordering and handing in cash, to receipts and legitimation lists for CIT cash carriers - the search was on for mobile applications. In future, employees were to remain capable of acting, equipped only with a smartphone. At the same time, valued features of the familiar web application such as intuitive usability and target group-oriented functions - for chain stores as well as cash-in-transit companies - had to be retained. The ICC app was able to implement all of these requirements - and more.
ICC time travel - our milestones
Security through real-time monitoring and detailed logs. Efficiency thanks to automated reconciliation and minimized manual effort. Transparency for full control over cash movements. The cornerstones for the ICC app were already in place thanks to the tried-and-tested web application, with additional features following over the years.
2020 - Starting signal for mobile cash ordering, safebag delivery and cash messenger legitimization
The ICC app was launched in spring 2020 - to the delight of many chain stores. It allows them to order change digitally and hand in safebags directly via smartphone. Without paper. Without a PC. Without media disruption. Particularly practical: the integrated overview allows users to keep an eye on the status of their orders or container deliveries at all times. Simple operation, a streamlined order screen and clear document management continue to impress customers to this day.
In the same year, an important security feature was integrated in the form of digital cash delivery legitimation. With the help of a QR code on the cash courier's scanner, they can be clearly identified by the app. A measure that makes the collection process much safer, faster and more efficient. At the same time, the legitimization process is documented transparently so that immediate and simple verification is possible in the event of a claim. The digital signature on the scanner has since replaced paper receipts and leads to a fully traceable handover.
2021 - Access control with one-time codes
One year later, a further milestone was reached with the integration of access control via digital one-time codes for safe or vending machine access, for example. In collaboration with partner INSYS locks, time-limited access rights could be assigned automatically via app for the first time - fully documented and controlled via the app. A higher level of security and less administrative effort for access keys or manual approvals are now part of everyday life.
2022 - Dashboards and push notifications
The integrated dashboard provides a central source of information in the app. Users can see all current tasks, orders and open processes at a glance - including automatic push notifications that inform them of status changes or new activities. This makes cash management more transparent, faster and more reliable - even in hectic everyday store life.
2023 - automated change supply
This was followed by the automation of the change supply. Based on historical consumption data, planned values and defined minimum stocks, the ICC app has since been creating suggestions for optimal cash orders - without any manual input. For stores, this means fewer incorrect orders, less effort and significantly better planning reliability.
2024 - ICC for iOS
The app is no longer only available for Android devices, but also for iOS devices. This update was accompanied by an overhaul of the design for noticeably more user-friendliness and convenience. At the same time, new authentication methods such as single sign-on (SSO) ensure more efficient user management and simplified access - especially in larger branch networks with many user roles.
2025 - digital vault management
This year saw the introduction of full digital safe management in the app. Movements, such as cash replenishment or the transfer of funds after closing, can be documented directly in the app. This ensures maximum traceability, increases security and reduces manual logging.
Today, the ICC app is in use on tens of thousands of smartphones and tablets. In addition to its ease of use and target group orientation, customers particularly appreciate its high level of robustness. This is ensured by our reliable ICC cloud infrastructure, which provides stable, secure and high-performance support for daily transactions - in every branch, at every location.
