Secured access, smart control, optimized maintenance - when lock system hardware and software pull together

Security and efficiency are essential in cash management - this also applies to smart safes and cash recyclers. However, retailers, banks and cash-in-transit companies cannot always guarantee reliable management. Key losses, static codes, inflexible authorization models and high costs leave room for optimization. Together with our partner INSYS locks, we have been providing solutions to these challenges since 2017. With digital access codes and state-of-the-art locking systems, a completely new security and maintenance concept can be implemented.

Risks and high administrative effort

Many smart safes and cash recyclers are still based on static codes or physical keys. These can easily fall into the wrong hands. Once a code or key has been assigned to a service provider, there is no control over who can actually gain access. In branches with several authorized persons, this increases the risk of unauthorized access.

In addition to the security aspects, the management of access authorizations poses a major challenge. CIT companies, technicians, retailers and banks must coordinate their access to the system precisely, which often involves a great deal of administrative effort. Manually assigning authorizations, physically handing over keys and checking the correct authorizations take up valuable time and incur considerable costs. It becomes even more time-consuming if a key is lost or an access code needs to be changed. High security pressure and time delays are the consequences.

Another problem is the lack of flexibility during maintenance. CIT companies often have to be present in person. Coordination between the technician and the CIT company is usually time-consuming and can hinder fast maintenance. In addition, this process causes an organizational effort that generates unnecessary costs and ties up personnel resources. In the event of malfunctions or short-term deployments, bottlenecks often arise that restrict operations.

Requirements for automated cash management

It is obvious that companies need a system that combines security with flexibility and at the same time minimizes administrative effort. A modern automated cash management system - ranging from high-security locks to the generation of one-time codes - starts here. However, it should also always meet the following requirements.

  • Security at the highest level: protection against unauthorized access, loss or manipulation of cash
  • Flexible and regulated access management: store managers, employees, technicians and service providers with time-limited, precisely tailored authorizations
  • Digital processes instead of manual lists: avoidance of paper documentation and insecure key management
  • Seamless logging: traceable documentation of every opening
  • Minimization of waiting times and unnecessary operations: Maintenance and cash collection efficiently and without delays
  • Reliability and emergency concepts: rapid response in the event of breakdowns or unplanned events

A partnership for safety and efficiency

We joined forces with INSYS locks many years ago to meet these requirements. Our partnership combines innovative high-security locks with smart software to optimize access to cash recyclers and smart safes.

INSYS locks stands for innovative high-security locks and brings decades of market experience to the partnership with ALVARA. The multi-certified lock systems not only offer tamper protection, but can also be flexibly adapted to the respective customer requirements. Systems such as the EloStar® Master have various operating modes to meet a wide range of security and access requirements.

By combining state-of-the-art software and high-security locking systems, we are jointly setting new standards in cash management. Companies benefit from greater security, less administrative work and a considerable reduction in costs. At the same time, digital access management enables maximum flexibility and ensures smooth processes in cash logistics.

“Together with ALVARA, we have bundled our core competencies to offer our customers the best possible service. By combining our high-security locks with ALVARA's one-time code platform and digital expertise, the on-site opening process is significantly faster, more secure and more cost-efficient. Instead of static opening codes, flexible one-time codes are used that nobody knows in advance. Together, we have created a solution that offers customers real added value.”

Centerpiece: digital one-time codes

The focus is on digital one-time code generation (OTC), which makes physical keys obsolete. Each access is carried out via individually generated codes that are only valid for a specific period of time and a specific task. This eliminates classic weak points such as lost keys, waiting times or shared access codes.

These codes are managed via the ALVARA Interactive Cash Control (ICC) platform. For security reasons, all branch managers, employees, technicians and cash-in-transit companies involved in the opening process must retrieve their access authorizations via web or app - precisely tailored to the respective activity. This intelligent assignment of rights reduces the potential for misuse and prevents operating errors.

Another advantage becomes apparent in unforeseen situations.
If a planned cash-in-transit service provider is unavailable, the owner of the money can initiate emergency openings quickly and flexibly.Service technicians can also be equipped with temporary codes at short notice to rectify faults - without having to rely on additional security transport.

More efficiency, less costs

The modern combination of high-security lock and digitally generated one-time code significantly increases transparency: every access is fully digitally logged so that companies can trace who accessed a secure storage unit or recycling device and when at any time. This seamless documentation ensures greater security and facilitates compliance checks.
